Starting at the end, after some lovely bedtime singing ending with ‘hush little baby’, Rose nosedived onto the mattress and demanded her duvet. I shut the door and that was it, no small thumping feet beating a track to the door, nothing. Just peace.
Jason made a superb asparagus and prawn risotto for dinner. Total luxury.
We went for a delicious lunch at a seaside pub near Whitstable. After lunch we went for a short wander beside the mudflats, and the sun came out making the world look lovely and colourful. The seagulls stood in the mud as though waiting for the water to come back and float them free. I drove back and narrowly avoided crashing the car when I changed lanes on the motorway and failed to spot a car in the next lane. Unbelievable.
There wasn’t a card. But who cares.
